Tricentis has added a new AI copilot solution to its portfolio, joining the recently released Testim Copilot. Tricentis Tosca Copilot adds useful AI capabilities to the end-to-end testing platform.

Tosca Copilot can help find unused test cases, duplicates, unlinked assets, and tests linked to application elements. It can also perform mass changes on those items.

Testers can speak with Tosca Copilot in natural language to turn their requests into Tosca queries. According to Tricentis, this can eliminate several hours of manual work for testers.

Beyond generating test cases, Tosca Copilot can also summarize complex tests, which can lead to simpler maintenance and faster onboarding.

According to Tricentis, other benefits include faster issue resolution, shorter release cycles, and cost and time savings.

The solution is now available for users to start experimenting with. The company also announced that the waitlist for its next copilot, qTest Copilot is now open for signups

“The integration of AI with testing levels the playing field for all team members, regardless of technical skill level. This allows even citizen testers to play a greater role in testing for fewer errors and greater productivity, leading to faster time to market and lower costs,”  said Mav Turner, chief product and strategy officer at Tricentis. “We’re already witnessing a 16% to 43% reduction in test failure rates with Tricentis AI tools, and up to a 50% increase in test case generation.”

The testing company Tricentis has just announced the first in a series of AI copilots for its testing portfolio. The first solution is Testim Copilot, which adds AI capabilities to the automated testing platform Testim

With Testim Copilot, users can input a text description of what they want to test and receive the JavaScript code for that test. In addition to providing test code, it also provides an explanation of that code, which makes it easier to understand and potentially reuse that code for future tests.

By incorporating generative AI into the testing process, Tricentis hopes to make testing accessible to testers with not as much technical knowledge. For users of all experience levels it has the potential to save time and reduce errors.

According to Tricentis, customers who have already been using its AI tools have lowered their test failure rate by 16%.

“Testim Copilot puts AI directly into the hands of the user, automatically suggesting test cases and fixes, meaning more time spent on workflows to boost productivity and improve time to market for new applications,” said Mav Turner, chief product and strategy officer at Tricentis. “This is only the beginning – we expect future Tricentis Copilot releases to have even greater benefits.”

The next Tricentis products to get AI Copilots will be Tricentis Tosca (currently in beta) and Tricentis qTest. All of the Tricentis Copilots will be available as add-ons to each of the products.

The company will also be hosting a webinar on May 7 to talk about its AI strategy and its upcoming AI Copilot releases.

AI has seeped into every corner of the tech space over the last couple of years, and mobile testing is no exception.

Tricentis just published its State of Mobile Application Quality Report 2024, where it found that 48% of testing professionals said that AI is already part of their mobile testing strategy. A further 21% plan to implement testing tools over the course of the next six months.

The company estimates that AI can save testers an average of 40 hours per month and save 76-100% of a company’s budget per year.

According to Tricentis, companies that don’t incorporate AI into their mobile testing strategy may face challenges like lack of talent, resources, and upskilling.

In addition to helping testers work faster, AI can help them get more done. For example, the company found that those who use AI as part of their strategy have more of their company’s information and services accessible on mobile than those that don’t.

“For organizations looking to implement artificial intelligence to boost their business objectives, testing is a fantastic place to start,” said David Colwell, vice president of AI and ML at Tricentis. “Mobile application testing is a great use case for AI because not only does it have multiple benefits – including significant time and cost savings, as well as quality improvement and risk reduction – but also its impact can be accurately measured.”

Despite the adoption of AI, the report found that about half of respondents are still using manual testing, though 38% believe that they would save about 51-75% of their company budget by fully automating their testing practice.

Another finding was that only 27% of respondents believe that their company’s test strategy exceeds expectations.

And finally, a majority of respondents (90%) believe that they lose up to $2.49 million in lost revenue every year due to mobile quality issues.

For the report, Tricentis surveyed 1,028 senior IT leaders from small and medium-sized businesses and enterprises in December 2023.

Tricentis is attempting to meet the growing demand for high quality mobile applications by releasing Testim Mobile, a mobile extension to its testing platform Testim.

According to Tricentis, testing for mobile applications can pose a lot of challenges, because unlike browsers, phones and tablets can vary widely in performance, size, and operating system.

With Testim Mobile, testers can use either physical devices or emulators in testing, and tests can also be run in parallel across those different testing options.

Devices can be set up and configured in minutes using the Tricentis Mobile Agent, which helps to also simplify device management.

Testers using Windows are able to still test iOS devices from their laptops by connecting the devices to the Mobile Agent.

For testers looking to utilize an emulator or simulator instead of physical devices, they can upload apps into the cloud and then share them with other team members too.

It also allows for codeless authoring of tests, while traditionally mobile testing has required scripted or coded tests, adding an additional skills requirement to the testing process.

Users of Testim should have an easy time getting used to Testim Mobile, as it uses the same UI.

“Ever-changing consumer expectations require organizations to frequently evolve their mobile applications, risking challenges due to a variety of operating systems, unstable network connections, geo-location capabilities, and more. As more mobile-first companies enter the market, organizations must ensure high performance, functionality, and usability for their apps to be successful,” said Suhail Ansari, chief technology officer at Tricentis. “Testim Mobile delivers innovative mobile testing capabilities that enable agile teams to quickly evaluate quality, debug failures, and use feedback to innovate on their applications through a continuous build and release cycle.”
